Will AI make us more productive? Robert Solow once said,“You can see the computer age everywhere but in the productivity statistics.” We all know how the various industrial revolutions led to unprecedented increases in productivity and prosperity, but for the last couple of decades, that productivity growth seems to have slowed down. Why have the rapid transformations related to IT, computing, and software not led to outcomes similar to those associated with the factory system and electricity? Perhaps the latest developments in AI will do the trick?? Or will AI result in mass layoffs and unemployment?
